Overview of the medicine
Expreso is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant used to improve alertness and reduce fatigue in conditions like excessive daytime sleepiness and attention deficit disorder.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose of 10 mg once daily in the morning. May be adjusted up to 20 mg once daily based on response and tolerability.
Elderly
Lower initial doses (e.g., 5 mg) may be considered, with careful titration due to potential increased sensitivity and comorbidities.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment may be necessary. Initiate with a lower dose and monitor for adverse effects.
How to Take
Expreso tablets can be taken with or without food. It is generally recommended to take the medicine in the morning to avoid insomnia.
Mechanism of Action

Side Effects
Contraindications

- •Concomitant use with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOI therapy.
Drug Interactions
MAOIs
Concomitant use is contraindicated due to risk of hypertensive crisis.
Sympathomimetics
May enhance the effects of other sympathomimetic agents, increasing risk of cardiovascular adverse effects.
CYP1A2 Inhibitors/Inducers
Dose adjustment may be needed with drugs affecting CYP1A2 metabolism (e.g., cimetidine, fluvoxamine, rifampicin).

Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include severe agitation, insomnia, tremor, tachycardia, hypertension, hallucinations, and seizures. Treatment is supportive, including gastric lavage, activated charcoal, and symptomatic management.
